WHAT'S IN IT FOR US AS LICENSEES?

Why should the Valley’s licensed bars, clubs, pubs, clubs, bottle shops and restaurants join the Valley Liquor Accord (VLA) and how will membership benefit them.

It is increasingly becoming more important for licensed premises to become active members of the VLA. Here are some of the benefits of being part of this dynamic industry group.

  • Establishment and maintenance of effective working relationships with key government agencies such as Liquor Licensing, Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire Services , Queensland Health, Queensland Transport, Translink and the Brisbane City Council;
  • Fulfilment of RAMP requirement for Liquor Licensing – all licenses must indicate if they are a member of a Liquor Accord. VLA members will receive certification and will be listed on membership forms sent to relevant government agencies and on the VLA website.
  • Each year licensed premises will be invited to officially become a financial member of the VLA. All licensees joining will also automatically become members of the Valley Chamber of Commerce Incorporated.
  • Representation by a professional single voice.
  • Membership of Queensland’s largest Liquor Accord with all members required to sign the code of conduct and abide by the constitution.
  • Monthly forum for collaboration of ideas and issues in our local precinct.
  • Source of information and support.
  • Networking.
  • Joint promotion of our local area.
  • Relationship with the Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Valley Community Safety Group.
  • Participation in the official launch of the Valley Liquor Accord on 22 June 2009.
  • Automatic inclusion in annual Queensland Health 'Safer Venues Awards Program'.
  • Joint submissions on behalf of Valley licensees to the 3 tiers of Government, as and if required.
  • VLA Chair and Executive will ensure broad representation for all types of liquor licences.

HOW WILL MEMBERSHIP FUNDS BE USED?

The initial annual membership will be used as start up funds for the VLA Launch and administration expenses. Print and production of VLA membership stickers, certificates, signage, email signature, electronic copy of VLA logo for inclusion in venue advertising and VLA support material for website. The VLA (Valley Liquor Accord) was formerly known as the VAMP (Valley Alcohol Management Partnership).
